There are, in fact, lots of exquisite locations in the realm of Cairo; capital of Egypt and the largest city in Africa; a major port just to the south of the River Nile delta; formerly the home of the Pharaohs. However among these the Valley of the Kings deserves special mentions. The Valley of the Kings is situated in Luxor set in the midst of huge sandstone cliffs. There are enough reasons that have made the location a prime attraction for tourists across the globe. Let’s check out then bit by bit.

Valley of the Kings happens to be the place where the Ancient Egyptians used to perform the burial process of their majestic dead. It, by and large, was the place where the Noble Pharaohs would be laid to rest in splendid tombs deep under the earth. The tombs would be filled with treasures and belongings that the Pharaoh would require in the next life. Only a little portion of the saga of ancient Egypt has been unearthed yet and hence, the entire area has become synonymous with an enigma.

In the very region of the Egyptian valley there are tombs that are reached by means of a series of exceedingly adorned tunnels; if you have the sense, you can certainly feel the saga of an enigmatic era. However, the majority of the tombs are vacant. These are in the same position for long. Perhaps they too were plundered by the marauders or the artefacts have already been removed for preservation. But you will certainly not be frustrated owing to these. You can take delight in the remains of Tutankhamun. There is his tomb and the same was discovered in this area.

On the other hand, in Luxor, between the main town and the Valley of Kings, there remains the Colossi of Memnon. Two mammoth statues that used to defend the gates of the Temple of Amenophis III which exist no more, loom above you brilliantly reaching high into the air.
